Do you find yourself constantly being used, abused, or taken advantage of?
Do you find other people’s energy is able to penetrate your energy field?
Do you get affected by other people’s thoughts and feelings?
Do you find yourself being manipulated by people?
These can all be rooted in your inner child being unhealed.
When we find ourselves in situations where we are used and abused, we often can’t see it happening because we can’t see the truth about our situation. This leaves us open to further manipulation, abuse, or being taken advantage of.
The root of our inability to see our adult situations clearly can be rooted in childhood abuse. When we experience abuse as children, we may have unconsciously protected ourselves by not wanting to see or thinking it was dangerous to see the truth in our situation. Because of this, we may have developed a defense mechanism that only allowed us to see the good in people. Perhaps we put them on a pedestal or even idealized them when they didn’t deserve it.
This may have helped us cope in unsafe situations because seeing the whole, painful truth may have been too much or overwhelming. As adults, though, it leaves us more vulnerable to abuse and manipulation from others.
In order to change us only seeing through the lens of idealizing others, we need to undo the belief systems and clear the traumas that caused us to develop this defense mechanism in the first place.
